How can counselling help?

How Counselling Can HelpCounselling is about sharing your thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential setting. Talking about your problems or worries can help you feel less alone and will enable you to make sense of what is happening in your life. At Dragonflies Counselling I can help you make your own decisions in order to bring about positive change in your life. You decide what to focus on and, whatever the issue is, as a counsellor I won’t be shocked and will not judge you. I will listen and help you decide how you want to move forward .

Counselling children and young people involves helping the child to develop a recognise their strengths and express themselves. It does not involve making decisions for the child, imposing beliefs on them or preaching. Children and young people are often helped by a therapist when they can talk freely and confidentially. For instance, when children have been bereaved they very often find it easier to talk to someone independently rather than upset an adult who may be close to them.

I allow each young person the opportunity to push the pause button, take stock of their lives, understand more about themselves and explore their options. My aim is to help them fulfill their potential, as they journey through this transitional period of change, and begin to lay the crucial foundations for adulthood.

Whether an adult or young person, everyone is treated as a unique individual where all clients have the chance to concentrate on themselves knowing that they can offload in a confidential setting.
